Dan K. Siegel is a partner specializing in real estate, contract negotiation, alternative dispute resolution, litigation, and municipal law. He has been practicing in Menlo Park for more than 15 years. Dan’s real estate practice involves negotiating and drafting documents and counseling clients regarding commercial and residential purchase and sale agreements and leases. In the area of construction, Dan represents developers, contractors, subcontractors and architects in every step of the process, including negotiation and contract formation, mechanic lien filing, mediation, arbitration and litigation. In addition to negotiating construction and real estate contracts, he also regularly reviews and negotiates employment and business contracts. Dan has an extensive practice in alternative dispute resolution and litigation and has successfully tried, arbitrated or mediated many cases including breach of contract, land disputes, construction disputes, trust disputes and many municipal matters, including torts and violation of civil rights. In the area of Municipal Law, Dan has served as an assistant to the City Attorney for the City of Menlo Park since 1994, as an assistant to the Town Attorney for the Town of Portola Valley since 1996, and as Interim City Attorney for Morgan Hill from 2004 to 2006. Dan regularly represents other cities and towns at City Council meetings, as Pitchess counsel and in litigation.
Dan obtained his law degree from the Cornell
University in 1992 and his Bachelor of Arts degree, with
honors, from the University of California Berkeley in 1989.
He is the current president of the San Mateo County Legal
Aid Society and is a member of the State Bar of California
and the San Mateo County Bar Association (Municipal Law
Section).
