​Jeff Snyder is a partner specializing in employment law. He brings sound legal advice to the table whenever negotiating for a corporate or executive client and enjoys finding a practical business solution to every problem. For over 35 years, Jeff’s practice has involved a heavy dose of counseling and litigation avoidance strategy in many areas, including employee terminations, wage & hour law, leaves of absence, disability accommodations, restrictive covenants (non-competes), commission plans, severance arrangements, employment agreements, reductions in force, handbook policies, performance counseling documentation, and management training. His litigation experience includes the defense of numerous claims for wrongful termination, sex/age/disability and other discrimination or harassment, retaliation, whistleblowing, overtime and unpaid wages, and breach of contract. For his executive clients, Jeff negotiates and advises on employment agreements, executive compensation, change-of-control scenarios, and severance agreements.

 

Prior to joining the firm, Jeff co-founded Shuman Snyder LLP (2012-2025) and, before that, was with the Thoits Law Firm (1990-2012). In 1990, he received his J.D. degree, with cum laude honors, from the University of San Diego School of Law. Jeff has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of California, San Diego (1986). Jeff has been an active member of the legal and local community, serving on the Boards of several nonprofits and as President of the Palo Alto Area Bar Association. He enjoys tennis, hiking, biking, traveling, and great movies.
