William L.  ("Bill") McClure

Managing Partner

Bill McClure is a partner specializing in real estate, land use, business, and municipal law who has been practicing in Menlo Park since 1978. His real estate practice involves negotiating and drafting documents and counseling clients regarding commercial and residential purchase and sale agreements; commercial, industrial, and residential leases and ground leases; construction and financing documents; CC&R's, due diligence materials and dispute resolution. In the area of land use, Bill counsels governmental and private clients on land use entitlements, CEQA and Subdivision Map Act compliance, general plan amendments, rezoning, redevelopment plans, development agreements, disposition and development agreements, owner participation agreements, and negotiations with and for local agencies. In the area of business law, he counsels clients and negotiates and prepares documents relating to business contracts, corporations, partnership agreements, limited liability documents, and buy-sell agreements. Bill retired, February 29, 2020 as the City Attorney for the City of Menlo Park where he had served as City Attorney since 1993. He also provides advice to other cities on a contract basis for special projects and conflict matters.

Bill received his law degree, with honors, from the University of Santa Clara in 1978 and his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Davis in 1974. His professional affiliations include the State Bar of California (Real Estate Section), San Mateo County Bar Association (Real Estate and Municipal Law Sections) and the Palo Alto Bar Association.
